Biography

Mark Halpren is a fractional CFO who helps early-stage tech companies turn finance into a

growth engine. As founder of FirstCFO Inc. in 2015, he’s spent the past decade building finance functions that scale — leading cash flow, forecasting, compliance, and tax strategies that help founders get the most from their capital and fuel expansion.

A trusted mentor with The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre and U of T’s Hatchery, Mark has guided startups through some of Canada’s top accelerators, including the DMZ, Next Canada, and OCAD’s Imagination Catalyst. His career includes senior finance roles at a TSX.V-listed video game publisher, Achievers Inc., and 12 years at Ernst & Young in audit, forensic accounting, and corporate restructuring. He’s a CPA-CA and Certified Fraud Examiner.
