#GeorgianPathways contest rules

The #Georgianpathways contest (the “Contest”) is open to current Georgian College students attending the Academic Pathways Fair – January 19, 2017. Any Winner under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign an affidavit of eligibility. The Contest is not open to employees of the Georgian College of Applied Arts And Technology (“Georgian College”) or persons with whom they are domiciled.

By entering this Contest, each entrant acknowledges that he/she has read and understood the rules set out below (collectively the “Contest Rules”), and accepts the Contest Rules and agrees to abide by the governing terms and conditions:

  1. HOW TO ENTER: No purchase is necessary to enter. To participate in the contest, you must:

a. Have a valid Twitter or Instagram account (an “Account“). If you do not have an Account, visit www.twitter.com or www.instagram.com and register in accordance with the enrollment instructions for a free account.

b. During the Entry Period, send a Tweet using your Account, which contains all of the following elements (together, an “Entry“):

(i) the following hashtag: #Georgianpathways (the “Hashtag“),

(ii) a picture of yourself at the Academic Pathways Fair

(iii) any additional text in an Entry must:

  1. not contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service;
  2. not be false, inaccurate or misleading;
  3. not violate any law or regulation;
  4. not instigate others to commit illegal activities or violate human rights;
  5. not contain any viruses, worms, or other interfering computer programming;
  6. not be libelous, threatening or harassing;
  7. not defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Georgian College or its products;
  8. be in “good taste” and in keeping with the Georgian College’s brand image and must not be explicit, offensive, obscene, or profane, and must not be derogatory toward any ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, profession, or age group, or promote any activities that may be unsafe or dangerous, as determined by the Georgian College, in its sole and absolute discretion; and
  9. not violate the rights of any third party, including, but not limited to privacy and intellectual property rights. For example, your tweet must not defame, infringe or violate publicity or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s, entity’s or organization’s personal or proprietary rights. For greater certainty, your tweet must not contain copyright works, trademarks, logos, or trade dress owned by anyone other than the Georgian College, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without express, written, prior permission of the trademark or brand owner.
  10. Comply with Twitter and Instagram Terms of Service and Twitter Rules available at www.twitter.com and www.instagram.com.
  11. Conform to Twitter’s (140) character limitation, including the Hashtag.

2. ENTRY TERMS: The Contest opens at 10:00 am (EST) on January 19, 2017 and to be eligible, entries must be received by 2 p.m. (EST) on January 19, 2017. No purchase necessary. Maximum three (3) entries per person/account. Multiple (i.e. more than three) entries from the same person will void all entries from that person. For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, you can only use one (1) Account to participate in the Contest. If it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than once during the Contest Period, then all your Entries will be void. Use of any automated system to submit Entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.

BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOUR ENTRY (INCLUDING YOUR USERNAME AND PROFILE PICTURE) MAY BE POSTED ON TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK AND/OR GEORGIAN COLLEGE’S PROPRIETARY WEBSITE, WHERE IT MAY BE VIEWED, SHARED (BY USERS OF TWITTER AND VARIOUS OTHER INTERNET-BASED SITES) AND COMMENTED ON BY THE GEORGIAN COLLEGE AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

  1. CONTEST DRAW & NOTIFICATION: Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible online entries. Two winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received in a random draw in Barrie, Ontario by January 27, 2017. Georgian College will contact the selected entrant by sending him/her a private message to the Account. The selected entrant must reply to the private message within seventy-two hours (the “Contact Period”) and provide Georgian College with a telephone number at which he/she can be reached. It is the entrant’s responsibility to set his/her Account settings to accept messages from Georgian College and to check his/her Twitter Account for such messages after the contest draw.

The selected entrant will be required to sign and return a declaration of eligibility, liability waiver and a publicity release within 10 business days of notification.

If a selected entrant: (i) cannot be contacted within three (3) attempts or before the end of the Contact Period (whichever occurs first); or (ii) if there is a return of any notification as undeliverable; or (iii) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question; or (iv) fails to return the contest documents within the specified time, he/she will forfeit their prize and an alternate winner will be selected.

In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a participant’s Entry, the Entry will be deemed to have been made by the authorized holder of the e-mail and/or Twitter account at the time the Entry was made.

In the event that the selected entrant does not comply with these Contest Rules, an alternative entrant will be selected from the remaining entries.

  1. PRIZES: The selected entrant will win one of two 32″ LED Smart TVs. The prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged or combined or used in concert with another contest or another offer. The prize cannot be converted into cash or substituted for another prize.
  2. RELEASES:The Winner, or the Winner`s legal guardian if the Winner is under the age of 18, must sign a liability waiver and publicity release, releasing Georgian College, its Board of Governors, its advertising and promotional agencies, the affiliates and related entities of the foregoing and all respective directors, officers, partners, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assignees from any liability in connection with this Contest or the Prize awarded as a condition to and in advance of receiving the Prize, or the prizes will be forfeited.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: Georgian College reserves the right to verify if the Winner satisfies all Contest admissibility criteria. Georgian College’s rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to the promotion and the awarding of the Prize. Any dispute relating to the Contest (including, without limitation, a dispute as to whether an entrant has complied with all of the Contest Rules) shall be resolved by Georgian College in their sole and absolute discretion. All decisions of Georgian College shall be final and binding.

Any use of robotic, automatic, or programmed entry methods shall be deemed as tampering and will void all of entries by that person. All entries that are incomplete, or irregular, that have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the Contest Rules may be disqualified by Georgian College. Georgian College take no responsibility for delayed, misdirected or late entries, or for typographical or other production errors. Georgian College is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of Georgian College and will not be returned.

  1. ONLINE ENTRY: Georgian College assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet or the Contest Website during the Contest, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. Georgian College reserves the right in their sole discretion to cancel or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond their reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Georgian College reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If the identity of an entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected Entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).

  1. GENERAL:This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering the contest, participants agree to be bound by these official rules and by the decisions of the contest judges, which shall be final on all matters relating to this contest. All entries become the property of Georgian College and none will be returned. The personal information provided by entrants will only be used for the purpose of administration of the contest, unless the entrant otherwise agrees.
