OVERVIEW

The Georgian College Join Our Mailing List for a chance to win $5,000 toward your tuition CONTEST (the “Contest”) is open to residents of the Province of Ontario 16 years of age and older who enrol in a part-time or full-time program at Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology (“Georgian College”) commencing in either May 2019, September 2019 or January 2020.

Any winner (“Winner”) under the age of 18 must have a parent/legal guardian sign an affidavit of eligibility. The Contest is not open to employees of Georgian College or persons with whom they are domiciled. The Contest is not open to students currently enrolled in a program at Georgian College.

By entering this Contest, each entrant (“Entrant”) acknowledges that he/she has read and understood the rules set out below (collectively the “Contest Rules”):

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Join the mailing list online, in-person or via tablet or hardcopy entry from within the contest period, and apply and be accepted to a program at Georgian College commencing either May 2019, September 2019 or January 2020. No purchase is necessary to join the mailing list contest, standard applications fees apply for college applications. Entry may be made in any one of the following ways:
    1. Contest may be joined online at GeorgianCollege.ca/win using a Ballot provided at Open House.
    2. Enter the contest in person at any on-campus event hosted by the student recruitment team during the contest period.
    3. In-person with a Georgian recruitment specialist at events in the community.
    4. Contact the Georgian College student recruitment team via phone at 722.7152 and ask to join the mailing list to be entered in the Contest, providing full name and email address.
    5. Complete a hardcopy mailing list entry form and submit to a member of the student recruitment team at Georgian within the contest period.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest opens at 9:00 a.m. (EDT) on Thursday, Sept. 13 and closes at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2019. Entry by online at GeorgianCollege.ca/win is only possible between 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018.

CONTEST – CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

The Winner must (A) join the mailing list within the contest period and (B) confirm acceptance in a Georgian College program by the deadlines provided by the Office of the Registrar in their letter of acceptance.

CONTEST DRAW AND NOTIFICATION

One winner will be selected from among all entries received in a random draw conducted at 12:00 noon at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario on Feb. 6, 2019 (“Selected Entrant”). Odds of being selected depend on the total number of entrants. The Selected Entrant will be notified by Georgian College by email. The Selected Entrant will be required to sign and return a Contest Winner Agreement that includes a declaration of eligibility, liability waiver and a publicity release within 72 hours of notification. The selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by email before being declared the winner (the “Winner”).

If a Selected Entrant cannot be contacted within 48 hours of the draw, or does not comply with these Contest Rules, or fails to return the contest documents within the specified time, he/she will forfeit their prize and an alternate Winner will be selected.

PRIZES

The Winner will be awarded a tuition grant valued at up to five thousand ($5,000) provided that Winner meets all criteria for grant recipients at Georgian College including: (a) the Winner must enrol in a full-time or part-time credit program of study at Georgian College in the program they confirmed (b) the Winner must pay a deposit to Georgian College by the deadline for the relevant term and, (c) the Winner must meet all academic criteria required of grant recipients. The value of the prize will be equal to tuition cost for one year of the Winner’s program or $5,000, whichever amount is less. The Winner will forfeit the tuition grant if they transfer into a different program before the add/drop dates.

The prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged or combined or used in concert with another contest or another offer. The prize cannot be converted in cash or for another prize. The prize may only apply to tuition fees – ancillary expenses and student service fees cannot be paid for with the tuition grant.

RELEASES

The Winner, or the Winner’s parent/legal guardian if the Winner is under the age of 18, must sign a liability waiver and publicity release that releases Georgian College, its Board of Governors, officers, agents and employees, from any liability in connection with this Contest or the Prize awarded as a condition to and in advance of receiving the tuition grand prize, or the Prize will be forfeited.

ELIGIBILITY

Georgian College reserves the right to verify if the Winner satisfies all Contest admissibility criteria. Georgian College’s rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to the promotion and the awarding of the Prize. Any dispute relating to the Contest (including, without limitation, a dispute as to whether an Entrant has complied with all of the Contest Rules) shall be resolved by Georgian College in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions of Georgian College shall be final and binding.

All entries that are incomplete or irregular that have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the Contest Rules may be disqualified by Georgian College. Georgian College takes no responsibility for delayed, misdirected or late entries, or for typographical or other production errors. Georgian College is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of Georgian College and will not be returned.

NO WARRANTY REGARDING EMAIL OR PHONE NOTIFICATIONS 

Georgian College provides no warranty as to its ability to contact a Selected Entrant by email or phone. Georgian College assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet in the course of notifying a Selected Entrant, irrespective of the nature of the failure (for example, technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website). Similarly, Georgian College assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet should the Entrant seek to enter the contest online, irrespective of the nature of the failure (for example, technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website).

GENERAL

This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering the Contest, participants agree to be bound by these official rules and by the decisions of the contest judges, which shall be final on all matters relating to this Contest. All entries become the property of Georgian College and none will be returned. The personal information provided by Entrants will only be used for the purpose of administration of the Contest, unless the Entrant otherwise agrees
