Biography

Dr. Gregory Anderson is a Professor in the School of Health, Wellness, and Sciences where he teaches various Chemistry and Physics classes in both the Pre-Health Sciences and the Biotechnology programs. He joined Georgian College in 2015 after spending 12 years as a Researcher at both Sunnybrook and Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. While there, his research focused on using high-resolution, high-throughput physics imaging techniques (such as optical projection tomography and micro computed tomography) to try to understand the roles that various genes played in the development of the cardiovascular system as well as the respective roles that they played in the development of cardiovascular disease. This work required the collaboration of various scientific teams from around the world, which helped foster in Greg the idea that truly great research cannot be done without great teamwork skills.

Greg holds both an MSc and a PhD degree from the University of Toronto in Medical Biophysics, as well as a BSc from the University of Waterloo in Biology and Chemistry. A frequent conference speaker, Greg has published 13 peer-reviewed papers on his research, most recently in 2020. Greg is excited to begin a new chapter of research ideas here at Georgian College and is actively working with colleagues from Lakehead University to set up new avenues of research into topics such as environmental toxicology.
