Adapted Recreation

TREC 1004

The ability to effectively develop and lead recreational activities suitable for individuals and groups with disabilities is integral to the practice of Recreation Therapy. Students take an applied approach to develop competence in key areas including systematic programming planning, activity analysis, adaptation and assistive devices, intervention leadership, and creativity. This is accomplished through experiential learning exercises designed for students to achieve the skills necessary to facilitate a wide variety of adapted activities.
