Course description

Students are introduced to the profession of nursing and what it means to be a nurse. Students explore the evolution of nursing as a profession as they learn about the regulation of nursing and how the nursing role is defined. Students examine and apply principles of group process and professional communication as they explore the meaning of professional caring practice. As they progress through the course, students develop knowledge and skills related to information literacy, scholarly writing, evidence-based practice and critical thinking

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
