PARA 2010


Course description

Students gain an introductory knowledge of the principles of pharmacology including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, routes of administration, patient rights, and administration of medications. Students study medications commonly encountered during paramedic practice with emphasis on medications administered within the scope of practice of Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) as per the National Occupational Competency Profiles medication list. Students learn to accurately perform medical math, and evaluate pharmacological interventions in the context of clinical presentations.

and (Post Secondary level BIOL 1026 Human Pathophysiology-Adv Minimum Grade of 50
or Post Secondary level PARA 1006 Anatomy and Physiology 2 Minimum Grade of 50)
and Post Secondary level PARA 1008 Patient Care Theory 2 Minimum Grade of 50

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
