Course description

In this course, students learn about the history of architecture and the development of construction technology around the world. Emphasis is placed on architectural trends and styles, construction materials and technologies, and the evolution of space design and functionality. Students also study the Canadian history of architecture, from the first structures created by Indigenous peoples to the present time. They explore the history of the architectural profession in Canada and the development of current architectural practices in Ontario.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
