Georgian students showcase innovation and creativity at AutoHACK Hackathon

Georgian College’s Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship department recently hosted their annual AutoHACK event from March 21 to 22. The event saw postsecondary students from across Ontario collaborating intensively for more than 26 hours to develop innovative real-world solutions for automotive and advanced manufacturing scenarios. Sponsored by Honda, the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), the Canadian and Ontario governments, and Employment Ontario, this event challenged students to push the boundaries of smart manufacturing, automation, AI integration and next-generation production technologies.
The event culminated in an inspiring showcase of creativity and technical expertise. After an exciting and dynamic round of presentations, the judges selected the top teams:
First place: Bearcat Design
Second place: Otto
Third place: The Geeniusses’s
Honourable mention: 10th Time’s the Charm
Beyond technical skills, participants gained valuable experience in teamwork, networking and problem-solving— elements for advancing innovation and efficiency in the future of manufacturing and autonomous vehicles.
This hackathon embodied transformative education, helping to shape flourishing students who are equipped to make a lasting community impact. Through workshops, mentorship and collaborative challenges, AutoHACK delivered an unrivaled student experience that prepares participants for global opportunities and industry shifts.
Participants also took part in engaging workshops, mentorship from industry professionals and fun activations designed to inspire continuous innovation. These experiences reflect Georgian’s pursuit of organizational excellence and commitment to building thriving communities through innovation and applied learning.
