Georgian College introducing five new career-focused programs next year including medical radiation technology 

BARRIE, ON: Future Georgian College students will have more ways to prepare for growing and emerging career opportunities with the introduction of five new programs in 2027-28. 

The new offerings will expand career-focused learning and give students more ways to prepare for growing and emerging opportunities. Among them is Medical Radiation Technology, a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program that will prepare students to become diagnostic imaging professionals. 

Georgian’s new programs will create more opportunities for students to build practical skills and pursue meaningful careers while helping respond to changing workforce needs. They give prospective students more choices to find a program that reflects their interests, experience and career goals.

A clear medical image can be an important first step toward answers for a patient and the health-care professionals supporting them. Through classroom instruction, simulation-based learning and three clinical placements, students will develop skills in radiological sciences, quality imaging procedures and compassionate patient care. 

The full-time program will begin in fall 2027 and be delivered in person at Georgian’s Barrie Campus.

In addition to Medical Radiation Technology, other new programs launching in 2027 include: 

Two-year Ontario College Diplomas 

  • Applied Artificial Intelligence: Students will learn to collect and analyze data, design and deploy AI solutions, and apply machine learning and generative AI to real-world challenges. 
  • Cybersecurity Technician: Students will build skills in cloud security, ethical hacking, digital forensics and incident response through hands-on learning and a capstone project. 
  • Game – Art and Animation: Students will bring characters and digital worlds to life through game art, animation and visual effects while building a professional portfolio using real-time production workflows. 

One-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate 

  • Fundraising Management: Delivered online, the program will help students develop skills in fundraising, donor engagement, resource development and campaign planning through real-world projects. 

Together, the expanded offerings will create new options for students at different stages of their education, whether they are beginning their postsecondary journey, building on previous learning or developing specialized expertise.
