Heather Raikou, Hons. B.Sc., M.A. Ed. (cand)

Currently completing her Master of Arts in Education through Central Michigan University, Heather’s research focus is on applying learning outcomes for co-curricular activities to the quality assurance benchmarks of the PQAPA audit process. Her paper “Ontario Colleges Accreditation Standards and Student Development” has been used by OCQAS to demonstrate the applicability of the quality assurance benchmarks to meeting student learning outcomes in the classroom.

Heather has helped to establish the current practice for mapping pathways between diplomas and degrees being used by Georgian College. She has been involved in two previous ONCAT projects: the Heads of Health Sciences Pre-Health Sciences project (2011-2013), and; the Georgian College and Lakehead University 2013-14 Project New Pathways Diploma to Degree. As Academic Quality Officer, she is involved in the academic quality assurance processes of the college, including preparation of degree applications, organizing PEQAB site visits and facilitating degree renewals. Heather brings her knowledge of quality assurance, learning outcome mapping, applications of NVivo and strong organizational, administrative, technical and operational skills to her research.
