Course description

This course develops practical skills in electronic medical office operations using an electronic medical record (EMR) system. Students learn to manage patient charts, schedule appointments, and create and maintain clinical documentation within digital workflows. Emphasis is placed on accurate data entry, medical correspondence, and effective communication within healthcare environments. Students also examine privacy, confidentiality, and reporting requirements in accordance with Canadian healthcare standards. Additional focus is placed on culturally responsive care and professional responsibilities when interacting with diverse patient populations. The course introduces AI-supported administrative and documentation tools, highlighting the importance of accuracy, validation, and ethical use in modern medical office practice

Post Secondary level OFAD 1006 Intro Medical Terms Minimum Grade of 50

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
