Canadian Healthcare System

Course description

Students are introduced to the history and current framework of the Canadian Healthcare system. They focus on its structure and funding and the laws and ethics surrounding the provision and practice of modern healthcare. Students also examine the roles of community, provincial and federal governments in the delivery and funding of healthcare, and the different professions and settings in which healthcare is delivered in Canada, including primary care, hospital, long-term care, homecare and public health

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
