Leadership and Management
Students examine the fundamentals of leadership and supervision from a child and youth care (CYC) perspective, with a focus on child, youth and family, agency and community systems. Emphasis is placed on relational leadership as it relates to child, youth and family's case management, program management and implementation, organizational needs, interagency relationships, collaboration. Students examine how to increase capacity in children, youth, families and staff by utilizing organizational skills and resources and learn how to identify and make referrals to community resources to fulfil goals of the service or plan of care. Throughout the course, students practice their written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including professional writing and case documentation.
Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
