Scott Staring, PhD 

Biography

Scott holds a PhD and an MA in Political Science from the University of Toronto, where he was a Connaught Scholar and an Ontario Graduate Scholar. He also holds an MA in Communications from McGill University and BAs in Philosophy and History from McMaster University. He has taught at universities in both Canada and the US, including at Harvard University’s Committee on Degrees in Social Studies, where he was twice awarded the Derek Bok Centre’s certificate of teaching excellence. 

Scott has been a full-time professor with Georgian College’s Liberal Arts degree program since 2011. He teaches a range of classes, including a first-year survey of the history of western philosophy, and a course that explores the roots of our modern climate crisis and what we can do about it.
