Biography
At the heart of her design philosophy is a deep appreciation for the Scandinavian principle of hygge—the art of creating spaces that evoke comfort, calm, and intentional living. Her work embraces a holistic approach to interior design, prioritizing sustainable materials, mindful choices, and a connection to nature. By combining beauty with purpose, Crystal creates environments that support well-being, encourage meaningful connection, and reflect a slower, more conscious way of living.
Crystal Roy is an interior designer based in Newmarket, Ontario, known for creating functional and personalized spaces. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University and an Honors Bachelor of Interior Design degree from Georgian College, she blends her artistic background with technical design expertise to craft environments that truly reflect her clients’ needs and lifestyles.
Crystal’s design philosophy centers on the idea that great design should feel effortless and inspire connection. She works closely with her clients to understand their needs, translating their vision into environments that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. By designing spaces that balance beauty with functionality, Crystal’s work enhances her clients’ everyday lives, making them more organized, efficient, and enjoyable to live or work.
My favourite thing about interior design is how it can make everyday life a little better. I love that design isn’t just about creating a beautiful space—it’s about creating places where people feel comfortable, connected, and at ease. I enjoy getting to know what people need and love, and then finding creative ways to bring those ideas into a space that feels like their own. As a teacher, I also really enjoy helping students see how much impact their design choices can have. For me, the best part of design is creating spaces that are both meaningful and enjoyable to experience.
