As soon as you graduate, you automatically become a member of the Georgian College Alumni Association!
My journey as a Georgian alum began in 2007, when I completed the Business Administration and Human Resources program, and I’m so pleased that nearly 1,900 students will graduate and join our proud Georgian alumni family later this month. Aside from balancing studies, work, family and other commitments, these students persevered during the COVID-19 pandemic and completed their programs – no small feat! I’m excited to see the great things they’ll do to help shape our communities in the years ahead.
You’ll see in this issue of The Loop that a historic announcement was made on Oct. 7: Georgian will begin offering a four-year Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing degree at the Barrie and Owen Sound campuses in 2022. This is tremendous news for our college, and will open a pathway to education for so many students who are unable to travel out of our region to pursue their dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
For this issue of The Loop, I was asked to reflect on my reasons for volunteering with our Alumni Association, and to share why Georgian is still so important to me. In short – I am passionate about education, and the impact that is possible when we support the next generation of learners. Today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders, and it is an honour to be a part of their journey.
I encourage you to stay connected with your alma mater as well. Georgian and our Alumni Association is here to support you in whatever ways we can. We also want to hear what you’ve been up to! Share your successes, stories and updates. Email email@example.com or log on to our exclusive alumni network, GeorgianAlumni.ca.
Sending you and your loved ones warm wishes for the season ahead.
