Stephanie Atthill

Biography
As a Professor and Program Coordinator in Georgian College’s Honours Bachelor of Science Nursing (BScN) program, Dr. Stephanie Atthill combines clinical nursing experience, curriculum leadership, and applied research to support innovation in nursing education, workforce readiness, and community health. Since joining Georgian College in 2016, she has contributed to undergraduate nursing education through teaching, curriculum development, program leadership, and scholarly inquiry. She is also an Adjunct Researcher with Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, where she collaborates with healthcare and community partners on applied research that supports nursing education, patient care, and health system improvement.
A Registered Nurse since 2007, Stephanie’s research focuses on nursing education, transition to practice, clinical judgment, simulation, cultural humility, nursing informatics, curriculum design, and the integration of artificial intelligence into healthcare education. Her recent work includes co-leading a three-year nurse-led social prescribing study with Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and the Barrie Family Medicine Teaching Unit, examining community-based supports for adults living with obesity and metabolic risk factors. She is also leading research on transition to practice for Registered Practical Nurses, contributing to studies on AI-generated wound images for healthcare education, and exploring AI-driven prebriefing approaches for maternal-infant clinical simulation. Through these projects, she works with interdisciplinary partners to generate evidence that informs education, strengthens workforce preparation, and supports more responsive approaches to community and preventative healthcare.
