Biography

David has served as Georgian’s Associate Vice President, Advancement and Alumni Relations, since 2019. Working in higher education for more than 20 years, he’s driven by a passion for accessible education and leads, enhances and develops alumni, community and industry support and engagement to further Georgian’s mission. Responsible for a team of professionals dedicated to building lifelong relationships, David works collaboratively across the college to advance a diverse portfolio including major giving, partnerships and sponsorships, alumni engagement, annual giving, donor engagement, advancement operations and community engagement.

Prior to joining Georgian, David served for more than a decade at Canada’s preeminent business school, the Schulich School of Business, York University, where he held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in his role as Executive Director, Alumni Relations and Development. As Executive Director, David managed a team of advancement professionals supporting the dean in all aspects of fundraising and alumni relations, both in Canada and internationally. At Schulich, David launched, directed and completed the school’s largest-ever comprehensive fundraising and engagement campaign, Leading Change, which raised more than $65 million to drive new innovation and growth.

Before moving to the Schulich School of Business, David worked at the Royal Ontario Museum, focusing on major gifts as part of the Renaissance ROM campaign. He has also served in advancement roles at Nipissing University and the University of Windsor.

David holds two degrees, including an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Nipissing University and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). A licensed barrister and solicitor, David practiced environmental law and civil litigation in Toronto and Midland prior to his return to the advancement sector. Locally, David is a member of the Rotary Club of Barrie and recipient of the Dr. James Jamieson Influential Alumni Award at Nipissing University.
