Summer Jobs

Georgian’s Career and Employment Community Services offers help to youth who are looking for employment, and to employers seeking potential candidates for future employment. Clients may access year-round information and resource services to help with their planning for employment. Employers can also post job opportunities throughout the year.

Additional programs and services are available to suit your unique needs.

Youth Job Link

Youth Job Link is designed to help youth, including students, aged 15 to 29, who could benefit from some extra help to plan their careers and transition to the labour market.

Youth Job Link provides three categories of employment services, each of which is available year-round. They are:

  • Career exploration services to increase knowledge of career options and support career decision-making;
  • Career management services to improve readiness for the labour market; and,
  • Job search, readiness and matching assistance to connect youth with employers offering employment opportunities, including summer jobs.

Experience Ontario

Experience Ontario is a pilot program for a limited number of recent high school graduates who have an interest in attending postsecondary education or apprenticeship training, but are uncertain of their next steps. This is part of the Ontario government’s plan to support a highly skilled workforce.

The focus of the program is career exploration and involves a number of activities and components. Each participant:

  • Has a personal career coach to help them develop a postsecondary education and career plan based on their strengths and interests
  • Participates in a conference where they learn more about work habits and workplace safety, and innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship
  • Has up to three paid full-time work placements totalling up to nine months. These placements may be in sectors related to their career interests
  • Visits a nearby postsecondary education institution or apprenticeship training facility
  • Has their application fee to college or university or first year College of Trades membership fee for apprentices paid for through the program

Participants benefit by:

  • Identifying, exploring and refining career goals and making informed decisions about their future
  • Gaining sector-specific knowledge and/or technical skills that will assist them in their transition to apprenticeship training, college or university
  • Further developing essential work habits and transferable skills

Participants are identified by local schools and referred to the Ministry of Education for entrance into this program.

Youth Job Connection

This service provides youth aged 15-29 who need support for job-readiness and job placement. Participants will gain the skills for permanent work positions through job focused workshops while earning minimum wage.

Employers who participate in this program can receive up to $5,800 in hiring incentives and supports. Youth participants and employers are supported throughout the placement duration to ensure a smooth transition to the workplace.

Step Up (Orangeville location)

The Step Up program assists youth under 30, to develop life and employability skills required to obtain and maintain employment.

  • Earn while you learn and a bonus upon completion
  • Explore your career choices
  • Learn problem-solving, life skills and personal management
  • Connect with local employers and find out how to get hired
