With inflatable slides, obstacle courses, crafts and fun food, kids will love ‘Caturday’ on March 28
March 23, 2015

Here’s great news for kids who love to have fun! On Saturday, March 28, a one-day event called Caturday will prove to be an engaging, educational day for children, young families and, of course, cat lovers, organized by Georgian College Event Management students.

Located at Holly Meadows Elementary School, 151 Mapleton Ave., Barrie from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Caturday will host more than 150 excited children ready to participate in a Cat in the Hat themed, fun-filled day to raise funds and awareness for Furry Friends Animal Shelter and Georgian College Event Management initiatives.

Scheduled and drop-in events, such as story-time with Cat in the Hat, obstacle courses, exercise groups, crafts and more, will enlighten and excite children. In addition, sales of cotton candy, popcorn, candy kabobs, Caturday paraphernalia and a barbecue lunch will help raise funds for Furry Friends Animal Shelter.

Caturday has been put together by a talented team of Georgian College Event Management students as an experiential learning endeavour. With support from Georgian College faculty and staff and volunteers at Furry Friends Animal Shelter in Barrie, the event planning committee hasn’t missed a beat with this event.

“Young families, children and cat lovers, won’t want to miss the opportunities at Caturday,” says student Susan Carr. “Fun and entertainment will be provided, all while creating support and awareness for two very valuable causes in our community. Also, Furry Friends Animal Shelter will have cats and kittens on-site in hopes they might find their ‘furever’ homes”.
