Local musician Noel Ward recently won $500 toward supplies and books at Georgian College. The performer starts Georgian’s Business Administration – Accounting program in January. He entered to win the prize at Georgian’s recent Open House.
“This means I can afford my textbooks,” says Ward. “I’ll need to work part-time to put myself through school, so this will give me more time to focus on my studies.”
The soon-to-be-student is currently a manager at a local call centre and looks forward to the next step in his career. He’s also the youth director for the Barrie-Simcoe chapter of MADD. “I’m smart, I work hard and am good with numbers – so accounting makes sense,” he says. “The end goal is a stable and reliable job that will allow me to enjoy performing in my spare time.”
Ward plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree through Georgian’s University Partnership Centre after obtaining his diploma. He hopes to get involved in the Students’ Administrative Council.
