Students pass Canadian Welding Bureau exam
March 12, 2012

Mike Azevedo, Chris Kerr, Iain Watson and Amber Stevenson are now certified to legally weld anywhere in Canada. Over Reading Week, the students successfully passed testing organized by the Canadian Welding Bureau – the national licensing body for welders in Canada.

Their course instructors – Dave Walton, Mike Latendresse and Dan Duquette – are all pleased with the results.

“These students have passed a very detailed and strict examination early on in the semester,” says Mike. “They will excel in their trade once they graduate.”

Dan notes that the investments Georgian has made in the welding program at the Owen Sound Campus are proving to be very rewarding for students.

“Over the past four years the college has spent more than $200,000 on the welding facility and new equipment to train our students for the future,” he says. “With this kind of commitment to training and the excellent instructors here in the shop and on campus, anyone interested in preparing for a future as a welder is wise to come to Georgian College in Owen Sound.”
