In Canada, domestic violence assault cases account for roughly 40,000 arrests each year. Of all sexual assaults in Canada, less than 10 per cent are reported to the police.

Join fellow students in helping to raise awareness of issues of violence and sexual assault through the Women’s Safety Awareness Campaign.

Upcoming speakers

Owen Sound Campus: Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1 p.m. (Room 62)

  • Shawna Cox, Shelter Supervisor, The Women’s Centre
  • Supporting women and children survivors of domestic violence for approximately 12 years in a variety of settings
  • Passionate about acknowledging and celebrating differences as well as addressing oppression and violence against women

Orillia Campus: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m. (Room D102)

  • Liz Westcott, Executive Director, Green Haven Shelter for Women
  • Green Haven opened its doors in October 1991 and has served the City of Orillia and surrounding areas by actively supporting adult women, with or without dependent children, with lived experience of violence and abuse in intimate relationships
  • Liz has been the Executive Director for 23 years, and continues to show passion for what she does
