New bursary available for Barrie and Collingwood PSW students
January 22, 2020

The North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network Bursary was created to support Barrie and Collingwood PSW students interested in pursuing a career as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) in the in-home and in-community care sectors in North Simcoe County or the District of Muskoka. Eligible students will receive $5,000 toward tuition and other expenses.

Georgian will be disbursing $5,000 to 30 eligible students starting the PSW program at the Barrie or Collingwood Campuses beginning in January 2020. Please note that students who are receiving funding through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), are responsible for reporting any scholarship amount they receive. For more information on how to report bursary funding in your OSAP application, please contact financialaid@georgiancollege.ca.

To be eligible for the bursary students must:

  • Be a new student accepted to the PSW program at the Barrie or Collingwood Campuses. Upon acceptance to the program, students will be provided with information detailing how to apply for this bursary with their acceptance letter.
  • Be passionate about seeking employment in a community-based organization that serves the in-home and in-community care sectors (this excludes hospitals, long-term care facilities and retirement homes) upon graduation.
