As the population of Grey and Bruce County and surrounding areas grows substantially over the next 20 years, so too will demand for experienced workers in various skilled trades.
Postsecondary skilled trades training can be an important stepping stone to a well-paying, rewarding career. Georgian’s Owen Sound Campus (1450 8th St. E.) is inviting local residents to learn how they can be part of the industry at its fourth annual Trades Open House on Saturday, June 20.
“We offer skilled trades training to meet the demands of employers right here in our community,” says Campus Principal Marion Lougas. “This event is a great way for people to learn about local educational opportunities.”
The Owen Sound campus offers one- and two-year full-time programs that train people to become carpenters, welders, electricians, gas technicians and HRAC technicians.
Everyone is welcome to drop by the campus between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to ask questions, talk with program faculty, take a tour and learn about job opportunities in the skilled trades.
