Did you know that when one of your senses is dimmed, your other senses become heightened? Come test this out for yourself at “Dine in the Dark,” an initiative of the Georgian College Optical Student Council.
The event will be held on March 16 at 6 p.m. in the Georgian Dining Room at the Barrie Campus. Opticianry students, in collaboration with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), will present a unique experience in which patrons are blindfolded for the duration of their meal. Not only does this allow diners to experience what a meal is like for those who are visually impaired, it also enhances all of the senses to truly appreciate the aroma, texture and taste of the meal!
CNIB ambassadors will discuss challenges faced by those with impaired vision. Tickets are $35 (plus gratuity) – all proceeds will go to the CNIB. Tea and coffee are complimentary and the dining room is licensed. Paid parking is available at the college. This event is sponsored by the Georgian Dining Room.
The deadline for reservations and payments is March 9. To make a reservation, call 705-252-7748 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name, contact information, how many diners, any dietary restrictions and your method of payment.
