Georgian is now one of a handful of colleges in Canada that offer the program, which was launched in 2013 to help students offset the cost of tuition.
For every 35,000 Aeroplan Miles, a $250 credit can be transferred to Georgian to cover tuition. Details about this process can be found at higheredpoints.com/how-it-works.
“Participation in the Higher Ed Points program will provide existing and prospective Georgian students with an additional source of funding,” says Catherine Drea, Vice President, Student Engagement and University Partnerships at Georgian. “This, when combined with Georgian’s existing awards, scholarships and bursaries, will help students accelerate their learning and reduce stress related to paying for postsecondary education.”
How the system works
- Visit higheredpoints.com for information on how to redeem Aeroplan Miles and transfer them to a specific Georgian account.
- The transfer is received at Georgian through the Accounts Receivable department in a similar manner to how other bank transfer are received.
- The transfer appears as a “non-refundable” cash deposit visible in the student account within two to three business days.
