Marc Castel, CEO of Maintenance Assistant, a global enterprise company specializing in providing web solutions, has been announced as the keynote speaker at next week’s inaugural Research, Innovation and Scholarship Day. The event takes place in the Barrie Campus gymnasium on April 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. Castel will speak at 4:30 p.m.
Castel has been an educator, mentor and funder in the technology community for more than a decade. He holds an engineering degree from the University of Toronto and has 30 years of business experience in the private and public sector. His talk will focus on “thinking outside the box.”
Research, Innovation and Scholarship Day will showcase research and scholarship activities from the Nursing program, as well as examples of projects from a range of programs at Georgian.
There will also be a display of e-business solutions geared to local businesses, examples of product development projects conducted with industry partners, and presentations on sports-related concussions and on a project conducted by Georgian’s Police Studies research team.

- Creative outdoor industrial design competition
- Showcase of innovations from industry and community partners
Admission is free and the event is open to staff, students and the public.
