Annual Hospitality and Tourism expo provides students with potential employment opportunities

An all-volunteer committee of students and faculty from Georgian College, Barrie Campus is busy putting the finishing touches on the annual career fair. The event, formerly known as “Expo”, has been rebranded to “Connect 2 Careers.” It takes place Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The fair is aimed towards introducing students from the Hospitality, Tourism, Recreation, Event Management, Culinary, Golf, and Aesthetics programs with career opportunities. C2C gives students a chance to network with potential employers and learn about positions within their industry of interest.

Employers from a variety of industries from across Canada will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Before 11 a.m. students have the opportunity to attend workshops that showcase a variety of skills such as culinary expertise, fitness and health, travel tours and event planning.

C2C is intended to inspire Georgian students and help them connect with employers for future career opportunities. Those taking part include Blue Mountain, Canada’s Wonderland, ClubLink, Casino Rama, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Glacier Park Inc., and Silvertip, among many others.

Although it is an event organized by students and for students, members of the local community are also welcome to attend. The event takes place in the Barrie Campus Athletic Centre.
