Georgian Kitchen and Bath Design students take home prizes
March 05, 2019

Georgian Kitchen and Bath Design students were recognized for excellence at an Interior Design Show gala Jan. 17 in Toronto. The gala was the culmination of the Blanco Kitchen Design Student competition, judged the month before.

For the competition, students were asked to develop a kitchen concept for a 147-year-old church in Utopia, Ontario. Designer Ed Lockyer from Newfoundland is currently renovating the space into a home. The concepts had to include the BLANCO IKON Silgranit sink and URBENA faucet. The project was integrated into the students’ Sustainable Finishes and Materials course.

“As co-ordinator of the program, I could not be more proud of our group of Kitchen and Bath student designers,” says Jennifer Lucifora. “We have a lot of talent at Georgian College.”

A total of 20 kitchen concepts were judged by Edyta Drutis from BLANCO Canada, Ernie Lehmann from Designers Plus Kitchen and Bath, and Ed (the client). The following Georgian students were recognized:

  • 1st: Ashley McIntyre, $1,000 cheque toward tuition
  • 2nd: Erica Weusten, $300 cheque toward tuition
  • 3rd: Kristen Gray, $200 cheque toward tuition

  • Brittney Rhodes
  • Puka Risal
