Georgian alumnus and Premier’s Award nominee Matthew R. Lawrence was recently honoured with the East Gwillimbury Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Lawrence, the creator, owner, operator, creative director, producer and host of the Canadian Improv Showcase, has been touring the world with his troupe for over 16 years, delivering over 700 comedic performances.

Members of the Knights in the Classroom, an educational company also owned and operated by Lawrence, attended the chamber’s gala on Nov. 8 in full medieval garb. They ended the evening with a middle-ages-style battle, delighting attendees.

Lawrence and other distinguished Georgian alumni will attend the Ontario College’s Premier’s Awards Gala on Nov. 18 at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, at which the 2013 Premiers’ Awards winners will be named.
