Dozens of high school students compete in a closed course with their custom-built robots while spectators watch at the FIRST Robotics competition at Georgian Colllege

The robots are coming back to Georgian’s Barrie Campus from March 15 to 17! In the FIRST Robotics Competition, 26 robots built and programmed by teams of high school students will compete in an epic battle that combines the excitement of a championship sporting event with the practical application of science and technology. This year’s theme is First launch: Deep space.

Event overview

  • Friday, March 15: Set up and load in
  • Saturday, March 16: Opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. with qualifying matches starting at 11:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, March 17: Finals, awards ceremonies and tear down

Things to do while you’re here

We’re looking forward to hosting our first event mentor breakfast. Georgian will also offer tours of the new Peter B. Moore Advanced Technology Centre, Deep Space T-shirts for sale and a fun scavenger hunt.

Information for volunteers

Close to 100 volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Technological knowledge is not required for most positions. For more information, please email Mark Gatenby.
