Georgian Grizzlies cross-country runner Ryan Fennell had arguably his most impressive performance off his young career on Saturday afternoon at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country National Championship in Calgary.
Fennell had an impressive 18th place finish at the nationals by completing the eight kilometre course in 28 minutes and 37 seconds. He finished just one minute and thirty seconds behind the race winner in a field of over 100 competitors.
The performance caps off a strong season for the Aurora native who became a standout on this year’s cross country team for his hard work and determination.
Fennell, a student in the Laurentian@Georgian psychology program also finished in sixth place at the OCAA Championship two weeks ago in North York to qualify for the nationals.
