Women’s volleyball player Mackenzie Roy has been named Georgian Grizzlies Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Grizzlies to two straight wins this weekend.
Roy, a student in the Bachelor of Human Services (Police Studies) degree program, led the Grizzlies in assists (60) and digs (28) while also adding 10 points over two wins against Algonquin and La Cité.
The native of Barrie is in her fourth season with the Grizzlies and has been an instrumental part of the team’s 7-1 record this year which currently puts the team in first place in the east division standings. Roy is in the top ten for assists in the entire OCAA so far this season with 151.
Also in consideration for this week’s award was women’s basketball player Hannah Pearsall who averaged 16.5 points per game in two games and men’s basketball player Tequilan Zwarych who averaged 23.5 points per game while recording back-to-back double-doubles in the Grizzlies two wins this past weekend.
