Grizzlies can’t catch Huskies
February 14, 2013

Barrie, ON – February 13th, 2013 – It was a similar story for the Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball team Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre when they hosted the George Brown Huskies.

The Grizzlies have shown all season that they can compete with any team in the OCAA but some tough breaks late cost them once again as they fell to the Huskies 76-67.

It was a good start for Georgian with Barrie native Marlon Campbell hitting a great shot to give the Grizzlies a two point lead after the first quarter.

Both teams exchanged points battling back and forth and with the game tied at 55 after three quarters, the fans were expecting and exciting fourth quarter.

Bad luck hit the Grizzlies to start the fourth with the Huskies opening up the quarter on a 9-0 run which was the ultimate demise of Georgian on this night.

Full credit to the Grizzlies as they battled back to pull within four but that’s as close as they could get losing by nine in the end.

George Brown’s Salissou Abdoulkader had a game high 18 points to lead the Huskies to the victory.

Ben Dance led the Grizzlies with 15 points and 6 rebounds while Justin Mitchell with 13 points and Jevon Francis 11 points both had solid efforts.

The Grizzlies will wrap up their season this Saturday when they host the Fleming Knights at 3pm at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
