Scarborough, ON – February 10th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s indoor soccer teams competed this past weekend at the George Brown College Indoor Soccer tournament in Scarborough and had good results.
Despite going 1-2 in the round robin the men’s team was able to pull out a 1-0 win over the University of Toronto – Mississauga in the quarter finals to move to the final four.
In the semi-finals the Grizzlies got a rematch against the Seneca Sting who had defeated them in the round robin. Georgian battled hard but came up short falling 2-1 in a tight game.
On the women’s side the Grizzlies had a great start in the round robin defeating UofT – Mississauga 2-0 before taking a 1-0 win over George Brown. The Grizzlies then fell to Durham by a 2-1 score but put themselves in good position in the playoff round.
Facing Redeemer in the quarters, the Grizzlies were able to squeeze out a 1-0 win to earn a rematch against Durham in the semis.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies it was the same result as they again fell 2-1 to the Durham Lords who were the eventual tournament champions.
