Men’s basketball player Kenrick Lewis has been named Georgian Grizzlies Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Grizzlies to a big win on Friday night.
Lewis, a student in the general arts and science program, led the Grizzlies with 19 points in the team’s 86-81 victory over the Seneca Sting.
The native of Toronto is in his first season with the team and was a spark plug in Georgian’s comeback victory which helped seal the Grizzlies first place spot at the season’s halfway mark. Lewis, a 5-foot-7 guard, shot 6-for-9 from three point range while hitting key shots down the stretch.
Also in consideration for this week’s award was women’s volleyball player Hannah Campbell who had 17 points including the 200th block of her OCAA career in the Grizzlies 3-0 victory over Loyalist, men’s volleyball player Jason Grimm who had 17 points in the team’s 3-0 win also against Loyalist and women’s basketball player Mackenzie Merkley who scored a team high 17 points for the Grizzlies against the Seneca Sting.
