Toronto, ON – November 15th, 2012 – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced their list of Men’s Rugby All-Stars for the 2012 season and among the list were Georgian’s Robin Calamatta and Ben Dorfling.
Calamatta, 23, had a tremendous season for the Grizzlies scoring 3 tries in six games this season. The third year Centre from Acton, Ontario was an instrumental part of Georgian’s defence and showed of his tremendous distribution skills all season long. He is currently in Georgian’s Paramedic program.
“Robin’s veteran leadership and competitive attitude have made him indispensable with the move up to Division I this season,” said Head Coach John Daggett. “Robin will play anywhere on the field, with never a question. His only goal is to make himself and others around him better rugby players.”
Dorfling, 19, is a second year Aviation Management student made an immediate impact on the Grizzlies as a first year Flanker. The Barrie, Ontario native registered one try this year and competed hard every game.
“Ben’s first year at Georgian College has been one of incredible perseverance,” said Coach Daggett. “Through his commitment to training and the fact he has grabbed his jersey and refused to let it go, he has proven himself a relentless defender with a go forward attitude with ball in hand. His work rate around the pitch is second to none.”
The Grizzlies Men’s Rugby program had a tremendous year under first year Head Coach John Daggett moving up to OCAA Division I play and clinching a playoff berth, setting the team up in good position in the future.
