Treva Job

Simulation Lead, Health, Wellness and Sciences

Treva Job is an Ontario Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (NP). She has recently completed her PhD, with her dissertation focused on Nurse Educator’s Application and Implementation of Simulation Pedagogy in the Nursing Curricula underway.

She has been a faculty member at Georgian since 2013 and is now the Simulation Lead in the Health, Wellness and Sciences academic area. Treva has also been involved in a multi-site research grant entitled: Embedding Virtual Simulation, Virtual Reality and Augmented Realty in Education, where a team of 21 educators developed an open access etextbook – Virtual Simulation: An Educator’s Toolkit.  She is involved in the development of mental health virtual reality scenarios that will be utilized in the nursing programs in the coming years.

Treva has an impressive background of clinical practice experience as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner with organizations including WayPoint Centre for Mental Health Care, Georgian Bay General Hospital, Barrie and Community Family Health Team, as well as working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the emergency department with Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children.

My deep-rooted passion for nursing education comes from my desire to share my cumulative knowledge and encourage life-long learning for our students. I have always been an inquisitive and curious person and I was always seeking to know more about client conditions and how I can assist them to improve with their health outcomes. I believe that nursing is compiled of both art and science. The science is the easy part, as that is what we learn throughout our education. The art is the personal aspect and comes from who you are as a person and what you bring into your practice! These two components are what inspires me to want to teach and help to shape the nurses of our future.
