Biography

Dr. Treva Job has been a faculty member at Georgian College since 2013. She’s also a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (Ontario). Currently, Treva is responsible for creating and driving the strategic vision to integrate simulation into the learning experiences within the programs of Health, Wellness and Sciences portfolios. In her role, she’s responsible for providing leadership in the integration of simulation pedagogy and technology that supports program objectives and curriculum learning outcomes.

Areas of expertise include primary health care, simulation pedagogy, and virtual and immersive simulation. She completed her PhD at University of Toronto, OISE, in 2022 with her dissertation focused on the Nurse Educator’s Application and Implementation of Simulation Pedagogy in the Nursing Curricula.

Treva has presented at multiple conferences and engages in research on topics related to virtual simulation, simulation pedagogy, and nursing curriculum. In addition, she has recently developed a mental health de-escalation virtual reality (headset based) scenarios that will be utilized in the nursing programs in the coming years.

My deep-rooted passion for nursing education comes from my desire to share my cumulative knowledge and encourage life-long learning for our students. I have always been an inquisitive and curious person and I was always seeking to know more about client conditions and how I can assist them to improve with their health outcomes. I believe that nursing is compiled of both art and science. The science is the easy part, as that is what we learn throughout our education. The art is the personal aspect and comes from who you are as a person and what you bring into your practice! These two components are what inspires me to want to teach and help to shape the nurses of our future.
