Flash mob kick starts auto show -- watch the video!

Georgian College commenced its inaugural June auto show by kicking up its heels – literally – with a fun flash mob at the opening ceremonies. Following the raising of the auto show flag, Georgian staff and students danced to a medley of songs beginning with “Car Wash” and ending with “Celebration.”

Georgian is ready for the next version of the Internet

Today is World IPv6 Day and Georgian College joins major companies, Internet providers and thousands of others who will test out IPv6 – the equivalent of Internet version 2.0.

Currently, the Internet is based on IPv4 and its use has been exhausted. IPv6 is critical for the continued growth of the Internet, especially in developing countries, and for the deployment of new, large scale services. Eventually, over the next decade, IPv6 will replace IPv4. Read more...

A record year for the Georgian Golf Classic

May 16 was a wet day out on the course but that didn’t stop 308 golf enthusiasts from teeing off for student success. The 24th Annual Georgian College Golf Classic, held at The Club at Bond Head, raised $50,000.

Georgian College receives $1.5-million gift from Bernick family

Henry BernickGeorgian College is blazing a new trail in the academic sector by becoming the first college in Ontario to secure a $1-million endowed chair.

The donation has been made by Henry Bernick, an entrepreneur and Barrie’s first land developer, who has been instrumental in the growth of the local real estate market since the 1950s. He has given the gift, which includes an additional $500,000 to create the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, with a goal of supporting entrepreneurship education and encouraging innovation in his hometown.
