This Sunday, July 24, is International Self-care Day!
July 22, 2022
Self-care is a foundation to help manage stress and overwhelming events in your life. Taking care of yourself is just as important as your studies and can be as simple as taking a five-minute break. Self-care has been known to have a multitude of benefits, such as:
- Reduce anxiety and depression
- Improve concentration and focus
- Improve energy and motivation
- Reduce risk of heart disease and stroke
Self-care practices can be categorized into physical, emotional, social, mental, practical and/or spiritual. To help you think of some ways you can fit self-care into your life, we have created a “Self-care bingo,” with different ideas on how to practise.
How it works:
Every time you complete an action on the board, mark off the square, just like in regular bingo. Once you complete a line across, up and down, or diagonally, it’s a win! Award yourself with something nice that lifts your mood.
These are only a few examples of how you can practise self-care; you can use the Internet or check out the Mental Health and Well-being page on the student portal for more ideas and/or to learn more.
Enjoy some time for yourself this Sunday and be well.
