People of Georgian: Canada a ‘second home’ for international student

What’s your story?

The Georgian community is full of unique, inspiring perspectives —and we’re sharing them as part of an ongoing series.

People of Georgian: Meet Jose Fernandez

My passion for nature began when I was a small kid. Even though I grew up in Mexico City, a city full of people and the noise of cars I often wondered what was beyond the city. I always wanted to travel and see the world.

I believe that my passion for nature and travelling led me here to this beautiful country. Canada is my second home – a place where you can meet people from all over the world and learn about their cultures. I love the feeling here of freedom, happiness and opportunity.

I’ve made great friends along the way that continue to help me grow as a human being, but the main reason I love this country is its nature.
I love doing bike trips, feeling the wind on my face while listening to the sounds of nature, and taking pictures of wildlife and nature. When you are out there and see how beautiful our world is you realize how lucky we are to call planet Earth our home. My ultimate goal is to take a bike trip from Alaska to Argentina. That would be an experience of a lifetime.

I can’t wait to see what’s next after I finish my program, but one thing I know for sure is I’ll be ready when the time comes.
