Georgian to retire COVID-19 safety protocols following winter semester

As the province of Ontario reopens and eases its public health measures originally implemented to fight COVID-19, Georgian will retire its COVID-19 safety protocols at the end of the winter semester. Please note that all current safety protocols, including the vaccination procedure and masking, remain in effect for the remainder of the winter semester.

Provided the key public health system indicators continue to improve, Georgian will make the following updates to safety protocols to take effect at the conclusion of winter semester. These decisions are subject to change depending on the evolving pandemic situation and public health advice.

  • We will rescind the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure. Vaccination is still strongly encouraged for all students and employees, but proof will no longer be required to enter campus.
  • Face masks will no longer be required. Individuals may still choose to wear one if they’d like. The type of mask is up to the individual. While supplies last, Georgian will still have masks available at each campus (locations and hours to come).
    • Update as of April 17, 2022: We’re closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Ontario and following the direction provided by public health. As such, we’ll extend the mandatory mask requirement on campus into the summer semester. Visit GeorgianCollege.ca/coronavirus for the latest information.
  • The COVID-19 Reporting and Prevention protocols will cease.

How you can help keep the Georgian community healthy and safe

Many lessons were learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we should continue to practise the good hygiene etiquette that has been so effective in protecting us and our communities. If you’re feeling unwell, please stay home and contact your instructor or manager.
