Students will be issued partial ancillary fee refunds for winter 2020 semester

We know many of our students have had questions about ancillary fee refunds since moving to remote learning in mid-March. We appreciate their patience while we worked through this. It was a complex process and assessments and adjustments had to be calculated for approximately 15,000 students.

Here is an update about winter semester ancillary fees.

Beginning next week students enrolled in the winter semester will receive a partial refund for the following winter ancillary fees:

  • universal bus pass ($23.25 refund for full-time students at Barrie Campus only)
  • athletics and recreation fee ($29.22 refund for full-time students; part-time students will receive a refund of 32% of the athletics recreation fee)

All other ancillary fees will not be refunded as these services, such as health and counselling services, technical assistance and others, were provided through remote delivery.

  • Refunds will begin to be distributed the week of April 27.

Summer semester ancillary fees

We will be providing communication to summer semester students as soon as decisions on ancillary fees are finalized. Student Banner accounts will be adjusted and/or a refund will be issued once those decisions are finalized.

In the meantime, we encourage students to register for their summer semester courses which begin on May 19. While we realize the online ancillary fee and assessment form has not been adjusted, fees will be assessed and adjusted prior to the June 2 deadline.
