November 02, 2012

The first group of graduates of the Bachelor of Business – Golf Management degree are in high demand, as 20 of the 22 grads have secured salaried employment in the golf industry, with the remaining two students launching golf-related entrepreneurial ventures.

“Those students who chose Georgian’s degree program have been rewarded for making that choice. The 100 per cent graduate employment rate indicates a long and prosperous future for the program,” said Brad Doey, program co-ordinator. “Our intensive curriculum provides insight into the three key areas of a golf club – turf management, pro shop operations and clubhouse operations – and prepares students well for successful careers in the golf industry,” he adds.

Career opportunities include general managers or directors of golf/club operations, golf professionals, pro shop or event managers, finance, human resource or marketing specialists.

“Our graduates are landing management-level roles at some of the most prestigious golf facilities in the world,” says Doey. “They are working in highly regarded operations including Aronimink, Pennsylvania; Laguna National Golf Club, Singapore; and the Hamilton Golf Club, site of this year’s RBC Canadian Open.”

The successes of the first graduating class of the relatively young 4-year degree program, shows that the program is definitely on the right track.
