Kyle Mitchell stands in front of his universityI came to Georgian as a mature student, having worked as a manufacturing engineer and in program management. Economic hardship and my interest in environmental issues drove me to the Environmental Technology program.

The program provided me with a multidirectional foundation, allowing me to start on an interdisciplinary career path. I also gained a wealth of knowledge through well-educated faculty, great facilities and many hands-on learning experiences. Georgian trained me how to breakdown and tackle large dynamic environmental issues through strategic methods and tactics.

After graduation, I decided to continue my environmental studies completing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management through an articulation agreement between Georgian and Royal Roads University. Today, I am responsible for stormwater management planning, source water protection, and dealing with all associated watershed legislation as the Manager of Water Resources for the City of Orillia’s Environmental Services Department. My educational experiences have allowed me to apply my passion for environmental sustainability through improving existing City practices, promoting environmental education and outreach, and providing plans that safe guard our water sources for future generations
