At course completion, participants will possess the basic skills to enable the mariner to better function in the marine environment. Topics include marine hazards and emergencies, marine firefighting, lifesaving appliances, and abandonment, survival and rescue skills. Prerequisites: Minimum 15 years of age.
The Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A3 certificate is valid only for limited vessel sizes, types and voyages. If you are unsure of the certificate you require to operate your vessel, please contact Transport Canada.

Small Vessel Operator's require MED A3 and SVOP to operate their vessel, The Restricted Operator Certificate – Marine certificate is required for mariners operating a VHF-equipped vessel in Near Coastal 2 and Sheltered waters
** One crew member on the small commercial vessel is required to hold a valid marine first aid certificate.
