Cabinetmaking Techniques instructor Lynn MacKinlay (Barrie Campus) provided a keynote address, encouraging attendees to consider pursuing careers in the trades. Lynn also shared her own story and addressed myths surrounding women entering trades professions.

A panel presentation allowed more women to share their personal journey and words of encouragement. The panel included Jennifer, welding instructor, Midland Campus; Denyse, co-ordinator of the pre-apprenticeship program; and Rachel, an electrical techniques student. Hydro One, sponsor of the event, also presented.

The participants participated in two workshops showcasing the Midland campus marine engine, hydraulics and electrical programs.

Organizers hope the evening opened doors for women looking to access skilled trades programs.
