Student email upgrades will affect smartphone access
December 16, 2013

Georgian is upgrading all @student.georgianc.on.ca email accounts by increasing storage space from 50MB to 50GB and improving usability and navigation.

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m., Georgian’s Information Technology (IT) team will start switching all full-time student email accounts to a new and improved interface: Office 365. The process will take several days and not all student email accounts will be updated at the same time. Part-time student email accounts will follow.

Throughout the upgrading process, you can continue to check your Georgian email via webmail. Once your account has been updated, you’ll see the new interface when you log in.

If you use your Georgian student email account on your phone, please note that as soon as your account has been switched to Office 365, your phone’s Georgian email application will stop working. You can reconnect your email by:

  • Changing the server name in your phone’s email settings to ‘outlook.office365.com’
  • Making sure your username is your full email address, e.g. 123456789@georgianc.on.ca

Check out IT’s Office 365 webpage, with some helpful FAQs. If you have any questions, email itsupport@georgiancollege.ca or call 705-728-1968 ext. 1732.
